Barre is a physical exercise that is usually conducted in gyms/speciality studios and is typically practiced in groups, utilising either free-standing or wall mounted Barre’s. Barre’s principles, movements and postures are inspired by Ballet and typically focuses on small, pulsing movements with high emphasis on form and alignment.

Benefits

Barre classes focus on the lower half of the body, where participants hold their bodies still while contracting targeted sets of muscles in isometric exercises, helping to develop strength and flexibility from the ankles up through the calves, knees, tights and glutes.

Attire

Participants usually wear activewear and do the exercises in bare feet or in socks.
